GETTING TO HIGHLANDS, NC

Please note: Ride-share services like Uber and Lyft are not available in or around Highlands, NC. We highly recommend renting a car to explore the area and get around with ease. Air Travel Options:For guests flying in, there are convenient airport choices:Asheville Regional Airport (AVL): Approximately a 1.5 to 2-hour drive from Highlands, AVL offers a smaller, easy-to-navigate airport experience. Flights are available via connecting routes on major airlines such as Delta and American Airlines, typically through hubs like Atlanta or Charlotte. Greenville–Spartanburg International Airport (GSP): Located about a 2.5 to 3-hour drive from Highlands, GSP is a great alternative offering a wider range of flight options than AVL while still being more manageable than a major hub. Several major airlines service GSP with convenient connecting flights. Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL): About a 2.5 to 3-hour drive to Highlands, ATL is a major international hub with numerous daily flights. It offers the most flexibility in scheduling and airline options, with multiple daily departures available from cities nationwide.

Travel & Lodging

We encourage all guests to utilize the provided transportation to and from the wedding venue on Friday. Note that there are no taxis or ride-share services in Highlands, and we want to ensure that everyone can safely return to their hotels following the reception. Round-trip transportation will be provided to/from The Farm, the wedding venue. There are two pick-up/drop-off locations: 16 Church Street and 200 Main. Transportation to the wedding venue will start at 4:45 p.m. Buses will run in 15-minute increments. Buses will depart from the wedding venue and return guests to 16 Church St. and 200 Main starting as early as 8:30 PM.

ACTIVITIES

The Whiteside Mountain hike is considered moderate. While the trail is relatively short, it does include some rocky sections and elevation changes. Proper footwear is recommended, and hikers should be prepared for a bit of climbing to reach the stunning overlooks.

Whiteside Mtn Trail

Sunset Rock is a popular spot for a short hike with a great view, and just a few hundred yards from downtown Highlands. Head east down Main Street for .5 miles toward Horse Cove until you reach the Nature Center on the left. Park on the gravel on the right side of the road. You will see large signs for the trailhead. The trail to sunset rock is a .5 mile hike up a gravel road. Sunset Rock is an ideal choice for a late afternoon stroll. Beautiful sunsets can be seen over the town, while you sit on a natural amphitheater of&nbsp;slabs of granite. This property is owned by the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.highlandschamber.org/trail/sunset-rock/656662114d155b698ad15daa/#" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Highlands-Cashiers Land Trust</a>.

Sunset Rock- Highlands Cashiers Land Trust

The Glen Falls Trail is a moderate hike. There are many great viewpoints of teh waterfall from different vantage points. Depending on how long you spend enjoying the falls, the hike typically takes 1.5-2 hours and is about 2.8 miles. The trail ends with a campsite. If you wish to turn back after the falls, you may do so as there are no great views beyond the waterfall.
